Richard attended St. Margaret Mary Elementary School and went on to high school at Gilmour Academy in Gates Mills, OH. After finishing his Master’s study in 1964 at Georgetown University in Washington D.C., he was admitted into the PhD program at the University of Chicago under the guidance of Milton Freidman. However, the draft connected with the Vietnam War as well as other family matters delayed and ultimately ended his academic career.
